Step 5: Ask your doctor to provide you with a prescription sleep medication if needed, to be sure you are having 6-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep or to help you fall asleep and stay asleep, i.e., Ambien, Sonata, Halcion, and Remeron. Lastly, anxiety or depression issues may need prescription medication as well, such as Paxil, Zoloft, Ativan, Elavil or others when stress is a major factor contributing to your symptoms.
